Physical Education and Mathematics
Mathematics is indispensable in our lives. However, we know that students have difficulty understanding abstract concepts.Since the mathematics course includes abstract concepts, one of the questions that come to students’ minds during the lessons is: “Where do we use this in daily life?” is frequently encountered. Events such as modeling on the problems encountered, positioning the objects in the environment relative to each other actually constitute the subjects of mathematics, even if they are not aware of it.
Games are also an effective method for teaching lower and higher level topics in mathematics. This also contributes to students’ retention of mathematical knowledge in their minds. With the help of games, students can gain new skills at the level of knowledge and comprehension. The use of game teaching in mathematics education helps students enjoy mathematics, gain confidence and develop positive attitudes towards mathematics. In physical education, there is a mathematics in every branch of sports. These activities will enable them to learn permanently by having fun and associate it with real life.
This activity was held in Štip, North Macedonia, from October 6th to 12th, 2024. During this period, various activities were organized to connect physical education with mathematics. The Faculty of Computer Science at Goce Delcev University hosted these activities.
